University of Ilorin Pharmacy Students Undergo Tableting Training at the Centre

FIRST SET OF TRAINING:

Pharmacy students from the University of Ilorin were at the Centre on 5th October, 2015 for one-week training on tableting. The 400L students numbering 9 were engaged in hands-on laboratory experience, which include analysis of powder properties (API and excipients) as well as analysis of compressed tablets. They also enjoyed several didactic lectures and presentations from lecturers of pharmacy and some other staff of the Centre.
The students, on 9th October, 2015 did oral presentations of the results of their laboratory work in groups of 3. They were engaged in an end-of –training quiz and finally, a mini examination was conducted. The whole training session was wrapped up with group photographs featuring the Director of the Centre, laboratory manager and other staff of CDDDP.
The generous contribution of Bond Chemicals, toward the success of the training cannot be disregarded. Bond Chemicals industries limited, Awe, Oyo state assisted with the donation of 12 different pharmaceutical grade materials, most of which were needed to complete the training.

SECOND SET OF TRAINING:

Final year students from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Ilorin, for the second time were at CDDDP from 21 through 24 March 2016 for hands-on training on tableting.

Two Investigators of the Centre supervised; two other lecturers from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Ilorin, provided pedagogic support. The Centre’s Laboratory Manager as well contributed meaningfully. These students were able to formulate, tablet and analyse the medicine (paracetamol) produced from 21 – 24 March 2016. The students made group presentations and an end of training examination was conducted.
